6th Garden Gathering Brings Big Progress to the Growing Space

Our 6th Garden Gathering was another fantastic day in the growing space, with volunteers coming together to make huge progress on the site.

We were incredibly grateful to receive a large donation of fruit and vegetable plants from a generous local resident. Thanks to everyone involved, these have now been planted into our no dig beds, helping to bring the space to life and setting us up for a productive growing season ahead.

During the gathering, we also worked hard to fill the beds with layers of woodchip, grass cuttings and soil, continuing to improve the health and structure of our growing areas using sustainable no dig methods.

One of the most exciting developments was the construction of our new polytunnel frame. This will soon be netted and used to grow climbing produce, creating a beautiful living archway through the garden.

So far, we have planted raspberries, strawberries, gooseberries, lettuce, tomatoes, spinach, leeks, chard, cauliflower, beetroot, horseradish, carrots — the list continues. It’s amazing to see how quickly the growing space is developing thanks to everyone’s efforts.

A huge thank you to everybody who came along to help out, lend a hand, donate materials and plants and support the project. Every contribution is helping us create a thriving community growing space for everyone to enjoy.
